Bitcoin Cash is a cryptocurrency that split from Bitcoin in 2017. Traders use BCHUSDT to speculate on its price against USDT, a US dollar stablecoin. It trades around the clock with high volatility.

🕐 Active hours: 24/7. Busiest about 13:00-21:00 UTC (US hours) and 00:00-04:00 UTC (Asian hours).

📜 History

Bitcoin Cash was created on 1 August 2017 through a hard fork of Bitcoin. Supporters wanted to raise the block size limit from 1 MB to 8 MB so more transactions fit in each block. The split came from a long dispute over how to scale Bitcoin, including the debate over SegWit. Early backers included Roger Ver, Jihan Wu of Bitmain, and developers linked to Bitcoin ABC. In November 2018, a second hard fork split BCH into Bitcoin Cash ABC and Bitcoin SV. The coin reached its high in late 2017 and then fell sharply in the 2018 crypto bear market. It has halved its mining reward on schedule, including in 2020 and 2024, and trades far below its early peak.

⚙️ What moves the price

  • Bitcoin price moves, since BCH often follows BTC and its trend.
  • Macro risk appetite and rate expectations from the Federal Reserve and other central banks.
  • Crypto regulation news from the US, China, the EU and other large markets.
  • Exchange listings, delistings and liquidity on major platforms.
  • Mining economics, hashrate changes, and developer disputes or upgrade proposals.

Character

  • Very volatile, often more than Bitcoin, with fast intraday swings.
  • Thinner liquidity than BTC, so spreads and slippage can rise in fast moves.
  • Trades 24/7 including weekends, when liquidity may be lower.
  • Sharp moves often follow BTC breaks or sudden news.

When to trade

  • During overlap of US and Asian or European hours, when volume is higher.
  • After BTC confirms a clear trend and volume supports it.
  • With a defined stop-loss and position size matched to the volatility.

When not to trade

  • Around major macro releases or crypto news, when spreads widen.
  • On low-liquidity weekends or public holidays.
  • Using high leverage to chase sudden spikes or hype.
