Six killed in Kraków market square shooting; three more found at suspect's home
Six people have been killed and 16 wounded after a gunman opened fire in a busy market square in Kraków, Polish authorities said. Poland's defence minister called the attack an "act of terror" against the people of the city. The suspect, a 25-year-old Polish citizen, used an automatic weapon in the main square at about 3pm on Saturday. Three more victims were found at the suspect's home. Poland's interior minister said the suspect was influenced by far-right ideology and held "ultra-nationalistic" views.
📊 What it means for markets
Attacks like this usually have limited lasting effect on major markets. Brief risk aversion may lift safe havens such as gold or the USD, and Polish assets like the zloty or local stocks may move briefly, though such effects often fade quickly.
