Shop fridges and freezers across Europe hit by suspected new cyber-attack
Supermarket chains in at least seven European countries say refrigerator and freezer temperatures in some of their shops soared overnight to as high as 50C (122F). The incident echoes a cyber-attack last month that caused millions of euros of damage in France. Retailers in Belgium, Estonia, Ireland, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Sweden reported refrigeration problems on Monday. Several companies confirmed they had been hacked.
📊 What it means for markets
Incidents like this are usually confined to the affected retailers and rarely move broad markets. They may draw attention to cyber risks for retail and food supply chains, with limited direct effect on gold, oil, USD, EUR or crypto.
