Russia strikes Kyiv and surrounding region in overnight attack
Russia carried out missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region overnight from Friday to Saturday, according to authorities. The strikes targeted energy infrastructure. At least one person was killed and eight were wounded. Russia has recently stepped up air strikes on Ukraine, worsening living conditions for residents who have limited access to power and water.
📊 What it means for markets
Attacks on energy infrastructure may add to risk premiums in oil and gas and can prompt some investors to seek safe havens such as gold or the US dollar. European assets may be more sensitive; effects are often short-lived.
